We are pleased to provide an update on our initiative to establish a specialized meat cutting training program. This program represents a crucial step in our mission to address the significant labor shortage in Canada's meat processing industry by providing skilled Temporary Foreign Workers.
Industry Engagement
Last week, we discussed in depth with several key industry players, including Domingos Meat Packers, Osmow's Shawarma and Amir Quality Meats. These consultations are crucial to understanding industry requirements and validating our approach to solving the workforce challenges. The enthusiastic response from these established organizations confirms the pressing need for a reliable source of skilled workers in the sector.
Proposed Training Program
Our proposed training program aims to prepare Temporary Foreign Workers for successful integration into meat processing operations. Meawhile, the employers will have the opportunity to evaluate the candidates before making a commitment. The program is expected to cover:
Occupational health and safety practices, including food safety standards and regulatory compliance
Professional cutting techniques for multiple protein types, including beef, pork, lamb, veal, and poultry
Safe operation of industry-standard equipment and tools
Value-added processing techniques for products such as sausages, hams, and bacon
Industry-standard packaging and quality control procedures
Production line workflow and team coordination
Effective teamwork skills with emphasis on continuous production line dynamics
Workplace English training focused on industry-specific terminology and communication
Moving Forward
This training program is a key component of our broader initiative to address the labor shortage in Canada's meat processing industry. By providing comprehensive skills training to TFWs before their placement, we aim to create a sustainable solution for employers while ensuring workers are well-prepared for their roles.
We are actively working on the next phases of development, including facility planning and implementation timelines. We will continue to engage with industry stakeholders and provide regular updates on our progress.
